New CAL – Traditions One, Two, and Three

 June 25, 2017

We are pleased to announce that Traditions One, Two, and Three are now Conference Approved Literature and will be published in booklet form using the same format as used for the Steps in S-Anon Twelve Steps (the blue book).  Each section includes a general description, stories from several members, insights that can help us embrace the Traditions’ spiritual principles, and questions to consider when studying the Traditions either individually or as a group.

We plan to have the booklet available for purchase in July 2017 at the Newark International Convention and from our online store.

Staffing Changes

After six years of dedicated service, Gayla Z. has resigned as Executive Director of the S-Anon World Service Office. During Gayla’s time as ED, she has been a champion for S-Anon and positioned the fellowship for growth. Her leadership both within the office and service structure has been one of passion, influence, and respect. Gayla’s legacy has already rippled throughout the S-Anon program, leaving a lasting impact and setting the stage for our new Executive Director.

Stepping into this role is Lindsay W., both an S-Anon member and an integral part of the WSO team where she has been the Administrative Assistant for five years. Applying her Sociology degree, extensive background in non-profit operations and experience, strength and hope from co-owning a private business, Lindsay W. is a perfect fit to guide S-Anon through this next phase of our journey.

International News

Seeing S-Anon literature translated into multiple languages sparks hope that the S-Anon message of recovery is spreading around the world.  Our latest international news comes from meetings involving Italian and Spanish S-Anon members. Both the Italian Readings/Suggested Meeting Format as well as Spanish S-Ateen Service Literature have been added to our online store and Literature Order Form.

We also have forward movement rising up in Israel and Iran. Our program members in Israel have completed license agreements to translate the Newcomers’ Booklet, Reflections of Hope, and the S-Anon Meeting Format. In Iran, members have completed translation agreements for Working the S-Anon Program, S-Anon Twelve Steps, and various pamphlets.

June 2017 Special Appeal & WSO Update

Please read this Special Appeal at three consecutive meetings.

Dear S-Anon Members,

My first encounter with S-Anon was through a newly formed group in my country.  At the time, there were only a few members who had come to admit unmanageability and the awareness that we too needed a program of recovery.

We began to meet, hoping to find answers for which we had been looking blindly for so long. We read fragments of a first draft of the only book translated in Spanish. We read and shared, but we were stuck. I wondered if that was all the help I could find in this fellowship.

We found hope in contacting World Service Office. They provided us with a suggested meeting format, instructions in registering our group and locating other groups and CAL. They put us in touch with members who could offer guidance. The WSO helped us to grow and share our recovery with others.

Today I choose to freely give what freely has been given to me by financially supporting the WSO. I understand the meaning of being “self-sufficient” with a healthier point of view. I can apply it in my individual finances and then transfer that experience, strength and hope to the financial stability of my group through regular and special contributions.

February 2017 Special Appeal & WSO Update

 February 14, 2017
Please read this Special Appeal at three consecutive meetings.

February 2017

Dear Fellow S-Anon Members:

Our Seventh Tradition says that member donations are needed to keep S-Anon going. But how much should members drop in the basket when it comes around?

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer.  Some give two or three dollars, as they have for years.  Some contribute keeping in mind what they once spent reacting to and trying to control the sexaholics in their lives.  Others, like me, find the largest bill in their wallets and toss it in.

Gratitude for this lifesaving program and the desire to help S-Anon be here for the newcomer—that’s why I open my wallet at every meeting. And that’s why I send a check in response to each Special Appeal.  As you read this letter, please reflect on the benefits you have received from S-Anon. Think about what you typically donate at each meeting, and then consider giving a little more. Please consider supporting the fellowship with a Special Appeal donation in the coming months so the office can continue to carry the message of hope to those who need to hear it.

In Fellowship,

A Grateful Member of S-Anon
